The purpose of this
document is to aid in the installation of WinEFT, the new
electronic funds transfer software for CEFMS. If you have not yet
downloaded WinEFT, you may get it by returning to the CEFMS user's
page and following the download instructions. Please make sure you
write down the path to the executable you download; you will need
it for installation.
It is strongly
recommended that you print this page before continuing the
installation process.
To begin the installation
process, you must first uncompress the self-extracting executable
you downloaded from the download site. You can do this one of two
ways. For the purposes of this guide, we shall assume you
downloaded the WinEFT file to C:\TEMP\WE32V10.EXE (for version
1.0; later versions may have different names). From the Windows 95
"start" menu (click the button marked "Start"
on the Windows 95 taskbar), choose the item marked "Run...".
When the window prompting for the file to run opens, enter
C:\TEMP\WE32V10.EXE (or whatever path/filename combination is
appropriate. When the files are uncompressed, close the DOS shell
window by clicking the "X" button in the upper right
corner of the window.
Alternately, you can open a
DOS shell window, change to the directory where you saved the file
(in our case, you would type cd C:\TEMP at the prompt), and
execute the file you downloaded (type WE32V10 (or the appropriate
name) at the prompt. When the files are uncompressed, close the
DOS shell window by clicking the "X" button in the upper
right corner of the window, or by typing "exit" at the
prompt.
Uncompressing the file using
either of the above methods will create a group of files in the
download directory. To begin the installation of WinEFT, choose
the "Run..." option off the Windows 95 Start Menu, and
enter C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE as the file to run (where "TEMP"
is the name of the directory where you saved the download). This
will start the InstallShield WinEFT setup process. Please follow
the instructions given in the setup process. It is recommended
that only advanced users modify any of the default settings in the
Setup process.
At the end of the Setup
process, you will have a prompt to "Launch program file".
Make sure you check the box next to this prompt before you exit
the Setup program. When you finish the Setup process, the WinEFT
Configuration utility is executed (if you checked the "Launch
program file" box). In the "WinEFT Configuration Utility",
enter the following values:
- Your MCS code. For example,
Mobile District users have a code of "SAM", Savannah
District is "SAS", Waterways is "WES", etc.
You should know your own code, or where to find this code.
Please enter this value without quotes.
- Your FOA code, which is a
single character followed by a single digit. For example, HQ
USACE has an FOA code of "S0", Huntsville Division is "A0",
etc. You should know this, or where to find it. Please enter
this value without quotes.
When you have entered all the
values for the configuration utility, click the "Ok"
button to continue. At this point, you should see the "Change
SQL*Net Configuration" window. This window generates a
SQL*Net entry for WinEFT to use when talking to your CEFMS
database. Do not modify this entry unless you are familiar with
SQL*Net configuration issues. Click the "Ok" button to
save your changes and exit, or the "Cancel" button if
you'd like another chance to enter your MCS and FOA codes. If, at
any time in the future, you wish to run this utility again, the
file is called WECONFIG.EXE, and it is located in the WinEFT
installation directory (C:\CEFMS\EFT, if you took the defaults).
You are now ready to perform
the final step in the installation and configuration of WinEFT.
There is a utility in the WinEFT base directory (C:\CEFMS\EFT, if
you took the defaults on installation) called BDEADMIN.EXE. Run
this program by picking the "Run..." option off the
Windows 95 Start Menu. Enter "C:\CEFMS\EFT\BDEADMIN.EXE"
in the file entry box as the name of the program to run, and click
the "Ok" button. Hopefully, this process will be
automated in future releases, but for now, you must do the
following:
- When the Borland Database
Administrator starts, you should see two clickable tabs about
1/3 of the way down the left side of the window. These tabs are
labelled "Databases" and "Configuration".
Click the "Configuration" tab.
- You should now see a tree view
of all known configurations. If there is a plus (+) sign next to
the word "Configuration" in the tree view (it should
be the first element), click the plus sign to expand the tree to
the next level.
- You should now see two entries,
"Drivers" and "System". Click the plus sign
next to "Drivers", then open "Native" under
that. You should now see a list of available database drivers.
The driver we are interested in is the "ORACLE"
driver. Single click it now, and the view area to the right of
the BDE Admin window should show you the configuration
information for the Oracle driver as a list of names and values
for the configuration.
- The configuration parameter we
are interested in for this is the "VENDOR INIT"
parameter. Most likely this value is currently set to "ORANT71.DLL",
which is incorrect. Click your mouse button on the word "ORANT71.DLL",
and the word should become highlighted. You should also see a
small button to the right with a down-arrow on it. Click this
button now. Clicking the button gives a drop-down list of the
available "VENDOR INIT" values. The value WinEFT needs
in order to run is "ORA73.DLL". Click that now. The
drop-down list should go away, and the "VENDOR INIT"
value should now be "ORA73.DLL".
- Exit the BDE Administrator by
choosing "Exit" off the "Object" menu. When
prompted to save the changes, choose "Yes".
Congratulations, WinEFT
should now be installed correctly. |
